Agility Nuts

Remington Runners were in for a bit of a surprise, as unfortunately the venue owner had double booked so they ended up outside!!! Fortunately the weather was very kind and even had a little bit of sunshine. It didn’t have any effect on results either, Sally & Kandy 1st & 3rd, Debbie & Stan 2nd, Karen & Nellie 3rd & 5th, Amanda & Woody 2 clear rounds.

Dog Vegas

Just two of the runners competed at Dog Vegas, their first time at Grantham since the start of last year but it didn’t faze the dogs Sally & Kandy 7th, Claire & Bella 2 clear rounds.

Hare n Hounds

The first Kennel Club show of the year much and was much busier then the unaffiliated shows. It was a big test for Sally & Kandy as it was the first time for them back at a KC show since she had her problems. They both coped very well with some lovely runs and Kandy was very happy which was great news. Well done also to Claire & Bella 3rd in grade 5 agility and Pauline & Pepsi with their clear rounds.

Casper is a very loving dog who likes to sleep! He’s loves being around people he knows, although he doesn’t really like new people. Once he gets over this he’s very friendly! He loves other dogs, especially his “brother” Charlie!

Likes: Sleeping, digging in the back garden and chasing his ball (he even dreams about it)
Dislikes: New people, cold weather and foxes

We hope you have all enjoyed the start to 2012 and it was a great end to the year from our sponsored agilty club, Remington Runners, who finished off the year with their last show at agility nuts with great results. Everyone came away with a rosette.

The results were Karen & Nellie 2 × 3rd, Debbie & Stan 3rd, Amanda & Woody 2 x clear, Gemma & Ollie clear, Claire and Bella clear, but the highlight of the day had to be seeing Sally & Kandy back in the ring flying round and coming away with a 1st place!!!! A great big well done to everyone certainly the way they finished off the year.

Well done also to puppies Benson and Honey for passing their Kennel Club Puppy Good Citizen assessment

Remington Runners have been running since July 2011 and are very proud of the achievements and successes the handlers have had in this time, it has been a very enjoyable 6 months. Here is hoping this continues into 2012 but most important we all continue to have fun and enjoy working with the dogs.

The competition bug bit after last months debut, so Debbie and Gemma were back at Agility Nuts for more of the same. They both did very well; Debbie and Stanley had their first clear round and were placed fifth which is a great achievement for only their second show.

Pauline braved the strong winds to compete with Pepsi at the Hare N Hounds show, they did very well coming away with a second, third and fourth place.

Benson and Honey have both started on a puppy Kennel Club Good Citizen course. They are both doing very well and it hopefully will give them a good start with foundation skills needed to compete in agility.

Due to Kandy being scared in the ring a couple of times in the summer, Sally has been doing some intensive training with her. Over the last few months they have been at various venues to help her slowly overcome her fears and finally we are starting to see some progress. The next step is to see if she will run in a competition, fingers crossed!

The surface they run on is very different, the courses tend to be tighter due to less space available and being indoors can be very noisy at times.

The team have been to a couple shows this month and the results are as follows:

Agility Nuts

Amanda, Debbie, Gemma and Karen competed at their first show and all the dogs and handlers did really well!

Karen and Nellie came away with their first clear round. It looks like the competition bug has already taken hold as all four are going back to the next show in November!

Hare N Hounds

Claire and Bella where at their first grade 5 show and came away with 8th in combined grade 1-7 ABC agility.

Sally also has a new addition to her agility family with little Benson, a chocolate working cocker spaniel. He has settled in really well and we will keep you up dated on his progress as Sally trains him for the world of agility.

Treats for Canine Troops provides the dogs with treats and toys to enrich their lives while with their handlers in the combat zone.

More than 50 dogs are serving in Afghanistan and it’s a dangerous job protecting the squad, sniffing out arms, drugs and explosives and searching vehicles on a day to day basis.

Julie Mewit said: “Treats for Canine Troops provides dogs with treats such as dental chews, pigs ears, tripe and toys that they would not otherwise be able to get hold of at the camps. We are very pleased to be sending Fullolife High Strength Joint Care which will help them stay fit and active.”

Julie and David also place letters and pictures in the boxes to help boost morale among the dog handlers and provide them with details of what their boxes contain.

Here we meet Jaffa, also known as Jemoon Flying Officer who features in our Fullolife brochure for High Strength Joint Care.

Nine-year-old Jaffa is a part bred Cleveland Bay and is owned by Liz Lloyd and currently ridden by 17-year-old Alice McGrath.

Alice and Jaffa recently represented England at the BYRDS Home International dressage competition with a fifth placed team effort.

Alice is aiming to compete at the British Dressage Nationals with Jaffa, who has been very consistent this season.

Facts about Jaffa:

Favourite Treat: He loves carrots and Heavenly Horse treats.

Favourite Place: Getting muddy in the field with his friends.

Best Characteristic: His good looks and presence.

Worst Characteristic: His attitude, he is a bit of a jack the lad and needs to be kept under the thumb!

Based in East Yorkshire, Remington Runners is a relatively new club set up by Sally Grimes and Claire Thorpe who have been competing in the world of dog agility for over three years now.

The club was formed to bring together a small group of like-minded people focusing on training to competition standard and ensuring their dogs are in the very best of health.

Coming together as a team, the club are already having success with their dogs progressing through the grades and they have high hopes for the future with the aim of competing in top-level agility competitions.

Famous pop star Robbie Williams recently confessed that his eight pet dogs were appointed as bridesmaids when he married his wife Ayda Field last year.

He has also revealed that he had invested in a set of faux fur-lined steps so his pampered pooches could join them on their king-size martial bed for the night.

Daily Mail columnist Alison Bowyer also confessed that her beloved three-legged dog, Chester, is treated to acupuncture sessions with the vet and every month visits the doggy hydrotherapy pool complete with fluffy dog drying towels!

Max’s owner is Sarah, who is part of the PR and Marketing team for Fullolife.

Max

Max is a cheeky dog and knows how to use his puppy dog eyes to get away with most things! He is quite a lazy dog, lazing around all day and enjoying cuddles at night on the sofa. After taking a very long time to train as a puppy, Max is now very well behaved and will show you his party tricks for a treat. Max was named after the epic film Gladiator, which starred Russell Crowe.

Age: 3
Likes: Attention, being spoilt, soft teddies and playing with his friends.
Dislikes: The Dyson, the hairdryer and having a bath!

Bella – West Highland White Terrier
My little four-year-old Westie suffered from dry itchy skin and had been scratching away at her beautiful coat which had become dull and lifeless. Her skin became sore in patches and she hated anyone grooming her.

After numerous attempts to find a solution a friend recommended Starflower oil. After more research online I found Fullolife Skin & Coat that contained Starflower oil and decided I would give it a try.

We are delighted! Bella’s coat looks thick and glossy again. She stopped scratching and her skin looks healthy with no sore patches. She has also started to enjoy a good brush!

We often think Charlie has doggy ADHD! He loves to be around people and is always very hyper! He’s very friendly and loves everyone unless they are on a pedal bike or ringing our doorbell!

Bauer

The only place Bauer will sleep on a night is in the bed with Annabel with his head on the pillow and his body under the duvet like a human. Bauer loves to chase birds, but the only time he caught one, he was that scared, he ran off and straight into the door!

The second dog to take part in our office pets is Harvey. Harvey is owned by Angie who works in the staff canteen here at Fullolife.

Harvey

Harvey (or Terverlani Black Magic, as his Kennel club registration says) is a show dog, gun dog trained and plays in agility and flyball teams all over the country. He has the Kennel Club good citizenship, bronze, silver, gold and platinum. He qualified for Crufts at 6 months old and has shown at Crufts every year since

Breed: German Short Haired Pointer
Age: 4
Likes: Playing football as long as he’s the GK, showing off, flyball, agility, swimming and being spoilt.
Dislikes: Sleeping, being ignored, not being top dog and the rain

… So we surveyed 1000 of you to ask you some questions and we got some very interesting results…

• A third of dog owners want their dogs skin and coat to be in better condition
• 50% of you have noticed joint care problems in the dogs first five years of life!
• But only 25% of dog owners feed their dog a nutritional supplement!

That’s over half of dog owners who notice a problem with their dogs, don’t feed a supplement to help them… awww, poor pooch!

Mrs Muggles is one of a kind, she likes just about anyone and everything and is mad as a hatter. She is treated more like a child than a dog!

Likes: The elderly, carrier bags, baths and playing with the Dyson, puddles.
Dislikes: The mini Dyson and Rain

This weekend is the Toller Club of Great Britain’s annual fun day and Fullolife are sponsoring their agility event!

The event is taking place at Catton Hall in Derbyshire and the winner of the agility event will receive a 6 month supply of our High Strength Joint Care (more details here) which will help their dog maintain healthy joints and ease of movement so they can keep winning agility events!

We have been to Bleach Yard Stables in Beverley so that we could get pictures of the horses and animals that are being used on our packs and website!

It was a great day out as we got some great photographs and the weather manged to stay nice which as well has been rare this week!
